“Rakes in Motion” and so much more…
7 Yards,
endless leaves,
22 volunteers,
and some very happy Lombard Seniors.
That is probably the best way to describe our busy Senior Fall Clean-up last Saturday morning. Dedicated volunteers bundled up to gather at the Perma-Seal Basement Systems parking lot in Downers Grove. Yes, there was a chill in the air – but the combination of a brilliant sunny sky and the giddy Saturday morning chatter put some serious “rakes in motion” – and 181 leaf-packed bags stood curbside as a result.
5 hours of raking can most certainly work up an appetite. Delicious subs from Berto’s in DG were waiting as our hungry volunteers returned to Perma-Seal to warm-up and refuel.
The morning was so much more than a raking project. Many volunteers took the time to get to know these yard owners – learning of soon-to-arrive family members, recent surgeries and accolades laced with both appreciation and encouragement – many passing around thoughtfully prepared snack platters and beverages.
Quite a morning.
Quite a volunteer crew. Quite a worthwhile and rewarding project for all involved.
A resounding THANK YOU to the following volunteers:
Anna A., Margaret F., Nancy G., Sarah J., Ken K., Jack & Mary L., Pat & Nora M., Chuck & Ross M., Kelly M., Pat, Laura Jane & Colby M. and Abby K., Dickie N., Karla O., Sarah O., Joyce O., Aileen & Theresa S-M.
