Our Sincere Thanks!
What a magical morning we shared as we transformed the DG Public Works lunchroom into a workshop of love and service for the people of Haiti!
We THANK YOU all from the bottom of our hearts for taking time from your precious weekend to give so freely. From setup to cleanup, you all pitched in and made it happen . . . 128 burial palls, new sundresses, emerging sewing circles and the sweetness that comes from working side-by-side to help those who need us.
With humble gratitude, the Global Hope team.

Sundress & Burial Cloth Workshop
Saturday, April 23
8:30am – 12 noon
Public Works Building
5101 Walnut, Downers Grove
It’s been over a year since the earthquake ravaged Haiti. The aftershock of devastation continues and the need for burial cloths is greater than ever with 80-100 burials a day at St. Damien Children’s Hospital in Tabarre, Haiti. Orphanages are filled to capacity – and providing enough clothing is yet another concern.
We made a profound difference last year with our sheet drive thanks to our amazing volunteers. Let’s do it again! Adults, Kids… All are welcome. From Seasoned Sewers to those simply eager to help – we will put all hands and hearts to good use.
The need for burial cloths and dresses is ongoing, so we’ve created many ways to help all under one roof. There are several projects to choose from and volunteers can choose what suits them best. We’ve listed a few ideas below:
Burial Cloth Project:

- Come to the event and decorate (with or without sheets)
- Organize your own sheet decorating project with a kids group, church, family or friends. (we can tell you how)
Sundress Sewing Circle:
(Special thanks to Meredith Harbour for bringing this need to light)
- Come to the event, with your sewing machine and make a dress or two
- Organize your own sundress sewing circle (we can tell you how)
- Sew dresses on your own at home (we can tell you how)
- Meredith’s Sundress: With one yard of fabric, a simple pattern and some sewing know-how, you can make a dress!
