On Saturday morning, May 21, twenty volunteers generously gave up their Saturday morning to help us prepare the Global Hope Community Garden for planting. This year we have nearly 2,000 square feet of planting space! 4 truckloads of mulch and aged manure were generously donated by the Morton Arboretum and New Traditions Riding Stables.
Shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows and rototillers were a whirl of activity distributing the soil amendments, rototilling and raking. Within a few hours the garden space was transformed with mounded planting rows, a work area and a path.

Next Saturday, May 28 is Planting Day, come on out and join us!!!!!!

…a few things you should know…
Attend the informative kick off meeting and learn everything you need to know about volunteering to work with others in the 2011 GH Community Garden. Whether you have a green thumb or just love to play in the dirt, all are welcome.
Also, we’re looking for a team leader for each 2-week session.
A “sneak preview” of the sign-up sheet is below.
